In the mid 1990s, Sight Ministries’ founders recognized an opportunity to support international missions by supporting local mission leaders. After numerous trips and witnessing changed lives first hand, a vision to increase the ministry through formation of a formal organization was born, resulting in the incorporation of Sight Ministries International, Inc. in 2004.
Our Primary Goal
Sight Ministries’ primary goal is to serve international mission leaders. To this end, we partner with missionaries and indigenous pastors to conduct multiple eye clinics in their local communities on each trip. At the clinics, we conduct eye exams and provide prescription glasses, reading glasses, and sunglasses at little or no cost to recipients. When warranted, we provide a limited supply of eye medications, and also attempt to find local resources to tend to those with a need for longer term care or treatment requiring facilities and/or equipment beyond our capabilities.
Our approach is effective because we partner with community leaders to provide vision care to individuals in areas that may never have been served in this capacity, many of whom would never see clearly without our efforts.
This approach also furthers God's vision because it supports local mission leaders in the following ways:
- Since eye clinics are sponsored by local ministers and provide a much needed service, they facilitate an avenue for the ministers to establish or increase their public image and standing in the community.
- The eye clinics provide a forum for on-the-spot witnessing as patients await their turn for eye exams.
- The eye clinics provide a forum through which contact information can be captured and relationships may be forged with members of the community, creating opportunities for follow-up witnessing and/or counseling.
Sight Ministries International, Inc. is a 501(C)(3) and formally incorporated under the laws of the state of Texas.
